So, Will Henry came to do a follow up for Emery today. I am so glad that Emery didn't decide to all of a sudden act perfectly because I would have looked like I was making the whole thing up, which I was clearly not. Will says that Emery should be treated with more positive reinforcement than negative corrections because he is a really sensitive dog and too many corrections would probably break his spirit rather than fix his problems. We've been clicker training today and he showed me how to use the clicker and how to treat Emery without him looking at my pocket all the time. He saw the same things in Em's work that I've been seeing for the past few months so I don't feel completely crazy. He said this happens to dogs on college campuses and that I should try and take him off campus as much as possible. Will also gave me a thing called the calming cap and that is supposed to be like a ski mask for puppies or a falcon's hood. I don't really understand the principles behind it but I am going to do more research on it.

On another note, I acrewed $200 in donations at work today! I was so happy. I listened to one of my Co-workers make some calls and then took her suggestions back to my desk and on the first try, BAM! $100. Woot, go me. Rackin up points in the plus columns.

Would it be totally out of line for me to use blindness as the topic of my paper? I like the idea of doing Autism because I don't know a lot about it and because I'm interested in it but for the sake of time and because the title of the movie "A scent of a Woman" bugs the hell out of me I may do blindness as my topic. Plus my teacher seems to forget about every other disability besides ebd so either topic will work. What do you guys think? Damn... Now I have to find someone to take me to the store so I can rent Rainman.

Hello,
Due to severe peer pressure and an interest in making new friends I have decided to make myself a live journal. . . :)

For those of you who don't know me well, my name is Domonique and I live in Nashville Tennessee. I study at Belmont University where I have happily found my niche among the other language nerds in the Humanities department. I'm in my third year of college and am studying German and Chinese. It's a lot of fun and I really enjoy it.

I have a guide dog named Emery who I got on Memorial Day, 2006 from the Seeing Eye. I was a little nervous at first to have a guide dog but I have gotten so attached to this beautiful little boy that I can't imagine not having him in my life. :)

There is a lot that I could write about to fill you in about myself and my past but unfortunately I don't have the time to fit it all in. So Welcome to my LJ and I hope you enjoy getting to know me and reading what I have to write.
